Lizzie is directed by playwright Steve Dooner. Demure spinster Lizzie Borden’s accusation of murdering her father and stepmother in cold blood remains one of New England’s most shocking, unsolved mysteries to this day. Local playwrights, Steve Dooner and Marc Songini, originated the drama to explore the mystery behind the gruesome crime committed in Fall River, Massachusetts. “Lizzie Borden is a great subject to take up during the Halloween holiday season. In the story setting and this time period, finding the truth becomes a quest that leads to the heart of New England itself,” shares Dooner. “The horror of the murders is complicated by the problematic forensic methods used by the police and prosecution back in 1892 Fall River.” A riveting psychological thriller, Lizzie is based on meticulous research on what was once declared “The Trial of the Century”. This fascinating and fast-paced drama keeps audiences on the edge of their seat. Playwright Steve Dooner serves as a professor of English and Drama at Quincy College. He has directed prior Company Theatre productions including Dracula, Blithe Spirit, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Doubt. He is also recognized as a seasoned actor in local community theatre. Co-playwright Marc Songini is the author of New England's Most Sensational Murders, The Stone Fleet, and Boston Mob, documenting the story of infamous Boston mobster, Joe Barboza. Tickets for Lizzie range from $27 to $29. Show times are 7:30 pm on Thursdays, 8:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and Sunday matinee performances at held at 3:00 pm.
